When you use your Windows 8 at home, security shouldn´t be that great of an issue. Additional, typing a full length password everytime Windows locks itself can become quite a pain.

So, here is how to use a PIN instead of a password in Windows 8:

  • Press Windows Key + I keyboard to bring up the Settings Charm.
  • Click on Change PC settings.
  • Click on Users.
  • Click on Create a PIN.
  • Enter your password.
  • You can now create your PIN (digits only).

You will now have the option to use a PIN when you log in.
