Test your memory with a built-in Windows tool

Windows 7 has a built-in tool - called Windows Memory Diagnostic - that allows users to check for memory problems.


Here is how to run the Windows Memory Diagnostic Tool in Windows:


  • Hit the Windows key and start writing Windows Memory Diagnostics.
  • When the tool shows up in the seach results, hit enter.
  • In the tool click on Restart now and check for problems (recommended).
  • The computer will restart, and the tool will run. A standard test will be selected and started automatically.
  • After the test is finished running, the computer will automatically restart and a report containing any errors found will be created the next time a user logs in to Windows.
