There are many reasons a computer can lose the trust relationship to the domain, for example if is has been offline for a long period of time, or if it is a virtual machine that has been set back.

You can use the Test-ComputerSecureChannel cmdlet with the -Repair parameter to repair a lost trust relationship between a computer and the domain. You must run the cmdlet on the computer with the lost trust relationship.

Here is how to repair the trust relationship for a computer account:

  • Open a powershell on the computer with the lost trust relationship.
  • Type the following
Test-ComputerSecureChannel –Repair

and press enter.

The trust relationship should now have been restored.
