If your vision of how a computer should work differs from the vision of the group policy guy, here is a way to prevent his group policies from applying to your computer:

  • Hit the Windows key, type in regedit and hit enter.
  • Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies
  • Remove any policies you do not want on your computer.
  • Right-click on the Policies key and choose Permissions.
  • Change all of the users or groups listed to Read only (uncheck Full Control).
  • Click OK.
  • Repeat the Steps for HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies
  • Close Regedit.
  • Reboot, the policies should not reapply.

You must be a local administrator on your machine to affect these changes.
