One of the first things you should do when you get a new mobile phone or a smartphone is to write down the International Mobile Station Equipment Identity (IMEI). If your phone gets stolen, this is the identification your provider will need to block your phone.

Here is how to get it:

  • Go to the key panel (where you can dial numbers) on your phone.
  • Type in
*#06#
  • The IMEI will immediately appear on the display of your phone.

Write down the IMEI and put it in a safe place, you never know when you will need it.
