Disable the first logon animation in Windows 8

Whenever a new user logs into Windows 8 for the first time, there is an animation playing which describes some of the functionality of the new Windows 8 interface.

When you or your users already know about the new interface, you can set a registry key that will disable this animation.

The key is called EnableFirstLogonAnimation and is located at HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\. Setting EnableFirstLogonAnimation to 0 will disable the animation for new users.

You can use this command to set the key:

reg.exe add "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon" /v EnableFirstLogonAnimation /d 0 /t REG_DWORD /f

You can also use this as a step in a SCCM task sequence.
