Disable the User Account Control prompt in Windows 8

First, your should not disable UAC in any Windows version, it is integral to the operating system. But you can at least modify the amount of prompts that pop up.

Here is how to disable the User Account Control prompt (for most situations) in Windows 8:

  • Open Control Panel.
  • Open User Accounts and Family Safety.
  • Open User Accounts.
  • Choose Change User Account Control Settings.
  • Slide the bar on the left to the lowest position.

This disabled UAC completly in Windows 7, in Windows 8, the UAC prompt sometimes still appears, but much less than with the default value.
