Check if IIS uses compression

Website compression is always a good thing. It optimizes performance AND saves bandwith. With a few exceptions (for example, if the page itself has some kind of logic that uses compression) you should always enable it.

But what then? How do you know if IIS actually does what you told it to do?

Here is how to check if IIS uses web site compression:

  • Copy the exact URL you want to check. It doesn´t have to be the root of the site.
  • Where it says Web Page URL, paste your URL and hit the button.

This will take only a short moment and you will immediately know if your webserver uses web site compression.
